Reserving a Room: Full-Time Students

Applications for rooms in the Université Laval residences are accepted at any time of year, whether you’re waiting for an offer of admission or already accepted into your program. The fact of having applied does not however guarantee you a room.

How to apply for a reservation

  1. Download the brochure Residence Application for Full-Time Students.
  2. Read the Terms and Conditions, and Bylaws of the Service des résidences.
  3. Complete and sign the following forms:
    1. Full-time student room application (Form 1)
    2. Information and Consent (Form 2)
    3. Authorization to Release Personal Information to Third Parties (Form 3)
    4. Minor, if applicable (Form 4)
  4. Attach a recent, passport-size photograph.
  5. Include a deposit covering your first month’s rent using an accepted payment method.

Signing the application constitutes agreement to sign the lease when you arrive.

Cancellations must meet certain conditions or cancellation fees may apply.

Processing of residence applications

Be sure to send all the required forms and information. Only complete applications are processed. All incomplete applications will be rejected. 

Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. 

The fact of having applied does not guarantee you a room.

  • You will receive email confirmation if you are assigned a room.
  • If your application is complete but there are no rooms available, you will be put on a waiting list.

Deposit

Canadian applicants 

By cheque

Cheques must be dated the date they’re sent, cashable on that date, and made out to Université Laval.

Please check that the account number and date are correct and the cheque is signed. 

Other deposit options

Payment by transfer of funds

Funds must be transferred to the Université Laval account. A receipt or proof of transfer must be sent with the application form. Make sure to use the Appendix A, Fund Transfer form provided in the brochure Residence Application for Full-Time Students.

By money order

Payment by postal money order must be in Canadian dollars, payable to the order of Université Laval and redeemable at Canadian financial institutions.

Proof of issuance (receipt) must be included with your application forms.

By credit card

Payment by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) is accepted to make the reservation a room only via the Dexero eCommerce platform.

Make sure to enter the reference #, the name of the person who paid and the date of payment on Form 2 “Consents and other information” in the space provided for this purpose in the brochure Residence Application for Full-Time Students.

Waiting list

Only applicants who have filed a complete application may be put on the waiting list. 

The waiting list is updated regularly and applicants on the waiting list are emailed weekly.

The Residence Office will notify you when you are assigned a room. At that point

  • You will receive email confirmation of your reservation
  • The deposit sent with your application will be cashed

If your reservation is confirmed after the normal lease start date, your lease will start on the day your deposit is cashed and confirmation is sent.

Remember to have your name taken off the waiting list before obtaining a place to avoid having to pay cancellation fees.
