Paying Your Rent

Your first responsibility as a tenant is to pay your rent on the first of the month. Each month, you’ll get an email with your account statement. Even if you don’t receive the email, you're still responsible for getting your rent paid by the first of the month.

Default of payment

Université Laval’s admission and registration fee rules (in french) state that your transcript and degree will be withheld until all outstanding rent in residence has been paid in full. The Service des résidences sends a list of students with unpaid rent to Financial Services.

Method of payment

The following are accepted ways to pay your rent:

  • Online
  • Cheque
  • Cash
  • Debit

Online

You can pay online only if you have an account at a Canadian financial institution.

How it’s done:

  1. Open a session on your financial institution’s website and go to the bill payment section. Find “Université Laval” in the list of suppliers
  2. Select “Service des résidences” and click “Add.”
  3. Enter the reference number from your statement and pay your rent.

There may be a delay of 4 or 5 business days before the Service des résidences receives your payment.

By cheque

Make cheques payable to Université Laval and include the reference number from your statement. You can drop it in the “Résidences” mail chute in your residence.

A $30 fee will be charged for an NSF cheque.
